“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” —Mark Twain
As we ring in 2014, these words seem to describe how children exist. Kids always seem to have the wind in their sails. They are always exploring, dreaming, discovering. They have no regrets and disappointments.
On the eve of a new year, I think back over all that happened over the past year – the good, the bad and everything in between.
As a family we were fortunate enough to have a year of good health, togetherness and love. We explored (we crossed the country from Hawaii to Boston, San Diego to Hilton Head), we dreamed (we read books together, we planned adventures, we talked about the future), we discovered (Isabella has a talent for swimming, Gabby is a voracious reader and that as a family we can do anything together).
And you know what makes me smile as I reflect on the past year – moments like the one above. This is everything to us. The stuff that happens every single day.
These two precious little girls are what makes us dream. They make us take chances. They teach us new things. They are what makes us sail.
To another year of living the dream – one little adventure at a time!
